I’ve always believed that if you want to have a colourful life, you need colour in your life - That’s what this blog is all about!- Ms Pink
I’ve been Ms.Pink for a long time now, the latest and longest incarnation in my lifelong obsession with colour.
I’ve moved many times since disembarking at Victoria Coach station, in London, clutching my collection of early punk vinyl back in 1984.
Back then I was Ms.Red and Purple, the only Punk in a small village called Roslin, best known as a pilgrimage destination for Dan Brown fans.
I only appreciated the privilege of growing up in an academic, arty household with Liberty wallpaper (Ianthe) in the hallway and crowded gallery walls years later.
At the time I couldn’t wait to get out... London was calling.
By now I was Ms. Green and Blue, and fully immersed in the London Punk scene, so yes, I saw The Damned, The Clash, The Undertones, The Cramps… All of that time now seems a bit of a blur, but at my heart I will always be a Punk.
As Ms.Orange I established myself in Hackney, the place I have called home for over 30 years. I went from jewellery designer travelling between London and South East Asia, to being an early stall holder at Spitalfields market selling vintage clothes and upcycled (though the word wasn’t yet in use) homewares, which incorporated the key elements of clashing colour, punchy pattern and iconic prints which eventually led to Quirk and Rescue.
Now as Ms.Pink I’ve been focused on creating a graphically unique brand in Quirk and Rescue with Mr. Black and creating a kaleidoscopic, vibrant home full of pattern and colour, from my stairway of vintage trays, which evoke memories of my Liberty print childhood, to the neon details and painted features dotted everywhere throughout my home.
I’ve always believed that if you want to have a colourful life, you need colour in your life - That’s what this blog is all about
